Black Brant II - Estes

This 1:13 scale model rocket is a replica of the primary research vehicle produced by Canada Bristol Aerospace and is an excellent choice for your first scale project. Construction is fairly simple with the high quality parts included.

The Black Brant family of sounding rockets was made in Canada in the late 50s. More than a half century later, highly reliable Black Brant rockets are still carrying scientific payloads to high altitude. Second in the series, the 8.5 m long rocket first flew in 1960. It was eventually succeeded by the smaller but more powerful Black Brant III.

The Estes Black Brant II is loaded with scale details. You can finish it with detailed waterslide decals and use the recommended D12-7 motor (sold separately) to reach incredible heights.

A 5 mm launch rod is required to launch this rocket

WHAT YOU NEED TO BUILD: Scissors, pencil, ruler, fine sandpaper, carpenter’s glue, plastic cement, hobby knife, masking tape, primer, paint. (Tools, construction and finishing supplies not included.)

WHAT YOU NEED TO LAUNCH (sold separately): Estes Porta-Pad II Launch Pad or Klima Launch Pad with 5 mm launch rod, Estes Electron Beam Launch Controller or Klima Launch Controller, model rocket engines, starters and recovery wadding.
Four 1.5V high quality AA alkaline batteries are also required for launch controller (not included).

What you need to build it (not included):
Cutter, scissors, ruler, pencil, aliphatic glue, masking tape, transparent adhesive tape, fine abrasive paper, spray paints.

What you need to fly it (not included):

• Launch pad with 6 mm rod
• Launch controller (if using Aerotech engines it must be 12 volts)
• Engines (see list of recommended engines)
• Flameproof wadding or parachute protection sheets
