Launch into the world of scale model rocketry with the Estes D-Region Tomahawk, a stunning intermediate-level kit standing an impressive 98 cm tall with recovery via a 60 cm parachute.
With detailed scale parts, water-slide decals, and a realistic paint guide, the D-Region Tomahawk offers a rewarding build experience for hobbyists ready to step up their skills. It’s the perfect combination of scientific history, craftsmanship, and high-performance flight.
Inspired by NASA’s experimental flight no. 12.08G.T., the Estes D-Region Tomahawk is a meticulously crafted 1/5 scale model of the original single-stage sounding rocket launched in 1968. This rocket was used to probe the mysterious D-layer of the ionosphere, and now, you can recreate that mission in miniature with Estes’ faithful replica. The model preserves the look and dimensions of the original, with scale-accurate detailing and an impressive silhouette that towers at nearly 100 cm tall.
Designed for intermediate rocketeers this rocket features large body tubes, a stuffer bulkhead, molded plastic parts for precise scale accuracy, and a vivid water-slide decal sheet for an authentic finish.
A full-color painting and marking guide ensures your final product looks as good as it flies. Despite its size, this model flies stably and smoothly on Estes D12 and TSP D12, D20, E12 or E20 engines using the included adapter.
The included orange engine spacer allows flexible motor selection, while dual launch lugs accommodate 5 mm launch rods for steady takeoff. For E engine launches, pair it with the Estes Porta-Pad E Launch System and E Launch Controller.
Requires Estes Porta-Pad® E or larger, and a 12 V Launch Controller, when launching Aerotech E Engines - sold separately.
