Build a replica of the AS-11 Kilter Arm, a missile intended to destroy enemy radio emission sources.
This military scale model rocket has all the features Rocketarium made us used to: Estes BT-60 body tubes, kevlar shock cord, laser cut fins and centering rings.
It flies with 24 mm motors, so you can choose Estes D12 but also Aerotech D9 or D15.
Features worth noting are the balsa details, like outside cable tunnels, the double fin set and the tail cone. The tail cone has to be built from cardstock and the tunnels have to be assembled from the pre-cut balsa parts. If you want to finish them well you need to shape them by sanding them carefully and use some filler to join them seamlessly with the body tube. For this we do not recommend this kit to beginners.
A decal sheet is included, with a number of writings to be placed toward the nosecone and the tail and a large block of modelling clay is used to get the correct stability. A must, because of the large forward fins.
As usual, a printed fin alignment guide is included to help positioning the fins correctly.
Recovery is via a plastic parachute, included.
To launch this rocket you need a launch pad that accepts a 5 mm launch rod (available separately) like the Estes Porta Pad “E” or the Aerotech Mantis. A standard electric launch controller like the Estes Astron II Launch Controller, the Estes Electron Beam or the Klima Launch Controller, can be used to fly Estes D12 motors. If you plan to use Aerotech RMS 24/40 reloads you need a 12 volt launch controller like the Estes PS II or the Aerotech Interlock.
