Build an historic military missile.
With this kit you can enjoy building a sport-scale model of the popular Jayhawk AQM-37C target drone, used to simulate a variety of enemy vehicles.
Although it is not a big rocket, its shape and the typical large fins are really attractive. We should call them “wings” actually, because this is what they are. The real rocket was literally flying, like a cruise missile, and guided by the two small front fins. This gives the rocket a distinctive shape that is easily recognized on the flying field.
The rocket flies with 24 mm motors, typically D-type. You can choose an economic Estes D12 or an Aerotech D9 or D15. In any case the flights will be amazing.
The large wings and the front fins are the highlights of this rocket. They are precision laser-cut from balsa stock. Centering rings are laser cut from basswood and the shock-cord is made of Kevlar and elastic, as the most part of Rocketarium kits. Illustrated and detailed instructions, and two sheets of self adhesive decals complete the kit.
The decals sheets are really crowded with many details and writings, you will spend a good deal of time placing them.
One feature of this kit worth noting is the tail cone: it is made by cutting and gluing a piece of cardboard and it needs a good skill to make it properly. This rocket is not for the beginners, but it can be build with assistance of a more experienced modeller.
A large block of modelling clay is included to balance the rocket, because of the forward fins.
To launch this rocket you need a launch pad that accepts a 5 mm launch rod (available separately) like the Estes Porta Pad “E” or the Aerotech Mantis. A standard electric launch controller like the Estes Astron II Launch Controller, the Estes Electron Beam or the Klima Launch Controller, can be used to fly Estes D12 motors. If you plan to use Aerotech RMS 24/40 reloads you need a 12 volt launch controller like the Estes PS II or the Aerotech Interlock.
