Description

This is a model rocket kit of the Frangible ARCAS rocket. This rocket is over 90 cm long and features plywood fins, ejection baffle and pre-assembled 45 cm plastic parachute.

The real Frangible ARCAS was developed during the 1960's as a rocket that could be flown over residential areas. To avoid damage to property, or injury, upon landing, the rocket was destroyed in mid-air. It has a sheet of explosive material wrapped around the airframe. Once the explosive was triggered, the rocket was reduced to particle sizes with acceptable levels of kinetic impact energy.
This kit doesn't get blown to pieces and can enjoy many flights, as opposed to the real deal.

The kit has detailed and complete instructions (in English), like every Rocketarium kit, a fuselage made of BT-60 tubes, laser-cut basswood centering rings and laser-cut balsa fins.

The kit also includes adhesive decals that imitate the lettering, logos and even the bolts. Assembly requires good modeling skills. This kit, like other Rocketarium kits, includes an exhaust gas baffle, eliminating the need for fireproof wadding. The deflector forces the expulsion gases to follow a tortuous path and protects the parachute from hot particles.

Recovery is with a plastic parachute, included.

Features:

  • Uses TSP D and E motors or Aerotech E and F Motors
  • Ejection Baffle (no wadding required)
  • Comes with the "explosives sheet" piece, laser-cut plywood fins and descends under a parachute.
  • The decals are included for all lettering shown.
  • Intermediate Assembly Skills Required

If using Aerotech motors, you will need a 12 volt launch controller, such as the Aerotech Interlock Controller or Estes PS II Launch Controller, and if using F motors, it is highly recommended to use a 6mm launch rod on a stable launch pad such as the Estes PS II or the Aerotech Mantis itself.
