The Tazz is the re-edition of a classic Estes from the 60s, the Gyroc. The construction differs only in the use of modern materials but the operation is the same: a special motor mount keeps the stabilizers aligned during vertical flight. At the apogee the engine is ejected and frees the movable surfaces that are arranged at an angle and quickly rotates the model during the fall, slowing it down as if they were a parachute.
The construction of the model is traditional, it is necessary to glue the wings, made of laser-cut balsa, and all the parts. The motor mount has plastic parts to hold the stabilizers in place, and a streamer for its recovery. It is not a kit for beginners but anyone with a minimum of building experience can tackle it. The decals are included in the kit.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BUILD IT: Scissors, pencil, ruler, fine sandpaper, wood glue, utility knife. (Tools, construction and finishing materials not included.)
WHAT YOU NEED TO LAUNCH IT (sold separately): Estes Porta-Pad II Launch Pad with 3 mm launch rod or Klima launch pad, Estes Electron Beam Launch Controller, or Klima launch command, engines, starters, and recovery wadding. Four high-quality 1.5 V AA alkaline batteries (not included) are also required for the launch command.
