The Mars Ascent Vehicle (MAV) is the first rocket in the new Estes "Destination Mars" series.
This lightweight, fully decorated and easy to assemble beginner model rocket will thrill both kids and adults as they follow NASA's findings as they work to reach the next frontier, Mars!
The imagination can go up to Mars, but this MAV remains in the Earth's atmosphere. Perfect for smaller launch sites, the MAV is a great rocket for those looking to bring a learning experience into their aerospace and science education programs.
The Estes MAV is very easy to build, it is also suitable for the youngers (followed by an adult) thanks to its degree of prefabrication. The body is made of pre-decorated cardboard tube, and is joined to a plastic part to which the fins, also in plastic, are fixed. A special nosecone already decorated completes the kit. Also includes a screw motor retainer.
A soft return to the Earth is ensured by the 45 cm parachute included.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BUILD: Scissors, pencil, ruler, fine sandpaper, carpenter’s glue, plastic cement, hobby knife, masking tape, primer, paint. (Tools, construction and finishing supplies not included.)
WHAT YOU NEED TO LAUNCH (sold separately): Estes Porta-Pad II Launch Pad or Klima Launch Pad with 5 mm launch rod, Estes Electron Beam Launch Controller or Klima Launch Controller, model rocket engines, starters and recovery wadding.
Four 1.5V high quality AA alkaline batteries are also required for launch controller (not included).
