The Sidekick is certainly unique: it combines two body tubes, two nose cones and two sets of fins together to produce a single extraordinary rocket! And the clustered motor launches are spectacular, as are the recoveries via two one-meter mylar streamers.
With this kit Estes has really proved that he has a great imagination. Combining two complete rockets together to get one is not such a normal idea ...
The Sidekick is double in everything, even in the engine. In fact you will have to use two motors to be started at the same time to make it fly. For guaranteed simultaneous ignition, we recommend the system consisting of Klima's Tapematch and Stage Igniters.
The recovery of this rocket takes place through two reflective mylar strips (streamers) that are ejected from each fuselage.
The construction is not difficult even if it requires a little experience and a lot of precision.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BUILD: Scissors, pencil, ruler, fine sandpaper, carpenter’s glue, plastic cement, hobby knife, masking tape, primer, paint. (Tools, construction and finishing supplies not included.)
WHAT YOU NEED TO LAUNCH (sold separately): Estes Porta-Pad II Launch Pad or Klima Launch Pad with 5 mm launch rod, Estes Electron Beam Launch Controller or Klima Launch Controller, model rocket engines, starters and recovery wadding.
Four 1.5V high quality AA alkaline batteries are also required for launch controller (not included).
