The Expedition is a rocket kit that flies with D motors or other 24 mm motors. Its particular shape is obtained with a rather elaborate but exciting construction, ideal for the enthusiastic builder.
The rear part of the rocket has a false nozzle and aerodynamic fairings on each fin that are made by slicing a tube, with the help of templates included in the instructions. Also the conical transition between tubes of different diameter have to be cut and paste also the frusto-conical transitions between the two pipes of different diameter which make up the fuselage.
The model flies with 24 mm engines, like Estes C11 or D12, but it can also use Aerotech motors of the same diameter. The recovery is by a plastic parachute, included in the kit.
The kit includes detailed multilingual installation instructions.
This rocket requires a launching pad with 5mm launch rod like the Estes Porta Pad II or Estes E-Launch pad, and an electric launch controller as the Estes E-Launch Controller or Estes Electron Beam Launch Controller .
If you want to use this rocket with Aerotech motors, you will need a 12-volt launch controller as the Estes PS II Launch Controller or the Aerotech Interlock Controller.
